Why is there a page about the Bible on a homeschool blog? Do you know the Bible has more to say about HELL than heaven? If I believe what the Bible says about heaven and hell, don't you think I'd have an obligation (and desire) to shout it from the rooftops?
People have all sorts of reasons for disregarding the Bible. What are your reasons?
The Bible tells all of mankind "And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment..." (Hebrews 9:27 NASB)
Are you (am I?) "good enough" to go to heaven?
God's requirement for getting into heaven is found in the Old Testament in Exodus chapter 20. The Ten Commandments are what God requires of every person to obey at all times...have you?
1-have no other gods
2-have nothing more important than God, no idols
3-honor God's name, don't take it in vain
4-rest on the Sabbath
5-respect/honor your father and mother
6-don't murder
7-don't lust/commit adultery
8-don't steal
9-don't lie
10-don't desire other people's stuff
In Matthew 5:28 Jesus said "that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart". (NASB)
The Bible says that NO ONE has perfectly kept all the Ten Commandments all the time for their whole life. Disobedience to God is called sin.
Romans 3:23 says "for the wages of sin is death..."
Do you realize God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, even though you think "you're a good person"? The Bible warns if you are guilty you will NOT go to heaven but spend eternity in hell.
Imagine a courtroom. God is the judge. You are the accused. God brings down the gavel, GUILTY as charged. Your fine is 1 trillion dollars. If you can't pay the fine owed, then your sentence is an eternity of torment in hell. Just as the guards reach to take you away someone enters the courtroom and approaches the bench. What? How could it be? This man is paying the fine! You don't even know him and He is setting you free!
This is what Jesus has done for us. When we bow our knee to Jesus, we recognize Him as our ransom and He sets us free even though we are undeserving.
