successful homeschooling.com

http://www.successful-homeschooling.com/ has terrific links examining the pros and cons of homeschooling. I appreciate her factual presentation without the biased emotion that often accompanies discussion of the topic.

meaty!

The kids had a couple friends overnight last night. They left at noon. At o'clock we had two more over to play.
It was a gorgeous day. It made me think that we need something cool in our backyard to keep them coming back. You see, I like to have my kids play HERE instead of THERE, if you know what I mean.
Looked at play sets, swing sets, forts, diy forts, build your own cottage, above ground pools and ?.  I have completely forgotten the third option! I was looking for something else but cannot remember!
Anyways, I found this: http://www.domeclimber.com/ I LOVE IT!
Onto the topic: socialization
I love this. From here: www.celebrationeducation.com/wifeswap/
She must homeschool her kids, I don't know the situation but she says,
"So are my children disadvantaged? Does allowing them to fall behind the crowd a little injure them? Is it bad that my children read so much? Is it bad that they actually know how to teach themselves (you know, give a man a fish…)? Is stepping out into the real world to learn such a bad thing?
No, no, no, no, and no.
The reverse is true. I feel sorry for the children who are stuck in the box for hours a day. Sitting at the same desk. Interacting with the same children. Cut off from the real world. Reading from textbooks. Filling in bubbles. This is the lowest form of learning and it’s what you have to do for a generation of children who believe that learning is bad. Children who have no idea how to learn on their own".
I mostly admire that many homeschoolers have the courage to think outside the box and swim upstream. I hope to have courage like that.
TRAMPOLINE, that was the third thing! Good grief!
